Butterflies, Bees, and Bugs, OH MY!!

Happy Friday to all!! I hope those of you on spring break this week have had a nice one so far. Mine has gone by entirely too quick for my liking but I am a little anxious to get back to school and work on Monday!! I've spent some time this week working on some upcoming units for first grade. Our next unit of study is How Does Your Garden Grow? as well as a Dr. Seuss Author Study. I am loving all the new fun stuff we have planned for the last three weeks of school. Here is my little unit on insects.

This little unit would go great with a bigger study of insects. I've chosen to include some basic vocabulary words about all insects and simple little worksheets that would fit into any classroom lessons. I read insect books, like On Beyond Bugs: All About Insects by Tish Rabe from Cat in the Hat's Learning LIbrary series, or other appropriate books about insects to start our unit on bugs.

 Included:
Anchor chart
Picture for anchor chart
Vocabulary Concentration game and accountability page
Vocabulary Sentence Match and accountability page
Busy Bees Verbs
Spring Word Search
Graphic Organizer for Bugs
Bugland Play ideas and bug songs

I hope that you can use this in your room with your kiddos!!

Happy Spring!!

Hello friends! Thanks for joining me for day 3 of my blog launch! I hope you have been enjoying the posts each day and have been entering the rafflecopters! Today, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite things! I'm also giving away a $75 Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Card so you can buy a few of YOUR favorite teaching things! COFFEE IS MY MOST FAVORITE THING EVER.  I also love anything mango flavored. Smoothies, cake, ice cream, candy, fruit, etc. All of it.  My most favorite color is pink! I've been known to buy things just because they were pink.  Wine and I have a nice relationship. Especially reds.   Did someone say glitter? Yes, I love glitter. No matter the question, the answer is always glitter.  And of course, technology. I love technology! Except when it doesn't work, then I don't like it so much.  I am also a Google Certified Educator! I love all things Google and I am excited to bring my class this year completely paperless!  The district has...

Thoughts on Thursday: Are You Ready for Some Football?

I'm so excited that this is Thursday and my friend Kristi from Pelicans and Pipsqueaks and I are launching our monthly link-up of teacher thoughts!  Thoughts on Thursday is a weekly teacher blog link up where we talk about our thoughts on a specific subject. Sometimes we'll talk about classroom stuff, and sometimes we'll talk about life in general. You may even grab a freebie or two along the way ;) It has been a wild month of August and I am beyond ready to get back into the swing of things. So this month - Football!! So it won't come as any surprise, but living in Baton Rouge, I'm a little bit of a Tigers fan. Just a little. No, of course my closet doesn't consist of ALL purple and gold. There is some black. And pink. I may or may not own solid gold shoes with purple laces. I can neither confirm nor deny that when I go shopping I look for shoes and jewelry that match my game day outfits. Yeah, okay. I mean, just look at all this wonderfulness! Who doesn't...
