Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Hi friends! I hope everyone is having a fantastic February! I don't know about your neck of the woods, but the weather here has been INSANE. One day it's 45 degrees, the next it's 89. I'm surprised we don't all have pneumonia or worse. Anyway, because it's winter, and because the groundhog saw his shadow, I wanted to share a little activity I created last year for my firsties. This helped us to sum up our unit on place value and regrouping. Plus it's super adorable! I needed a review activity for our Numbers to 120 unit and I love snowmen! So I made this!  With this activity the kids can create a snowman by choosing a two or three snowball snowman, a scarf, and two or three buttons. Each addition has a value of tens or ones. They add them all together and show the total value of their snowman!  I've included a recording page and a page to hang in the hallway with the snowman.  Click  HERE  to grab this!  I also created a QR code scavenger hunt scoot fo...

St. Patrick's Day Math Craftivity!!

Good evening to all! Just a quick jot tonight to show what we did in math today! This is a little craftivity from my St. Patrick's Day Math bundle . We have been working hard with decomposing numbers! Our focus right now is breaking numbers down to tens and ones. So everybody got a stack of leprechaun coins and started counting.  We totaled our coins, divided them into tens and ones, wrote expanded form, and drew our quick tens or blocks.   Here are our finished Pots o' Gold! Grab a copy of my St. Patrick's Day Bundle at TpT right now for 20% off through the 17th! Click the pic! Happy Teaching!

I got my toes in the water, toes in the sand....

So I went to the beach last weekend and it was amazing!!!! Had so much fun. Totally need to go back and do it all over again. The one drawback - it was a little cold. I was inspired to create some beach themed activities in anticipation of summer!! I am so over this cold. I came back rested and ready to tackle the last 9 weeks of school. We've been working on alphabetical order and making contractions in ELA. We've also been focusing on adding tens and ones and really tackling odd and even numbers. In math workshop I try to keep things fresh by making new games. I usually start by introducing the game whole group and then placing it in a center rotation. Same thing with Literacy Workshop. It's always good to have the children reviewing skills we've learned throughout the year. My new little bundle includes the following: - an addition with and without regrouping game, manipulatives, and tens and ones workmat - an odd and even flip flop game - Beach words ABC order activ...
